The Kaipara Kiwi Team is once again inviting the community to join them for a special evening of kiwi listening. Hearing kiwi in the wild is something pretty special – that first call cutting through the dark is something you don’t forget. You may hear the high-pitched whistle of a male calling, or the deeper, rasping call of a female replying across the valley. And while kiwi are shy and rarely seen, every now and then you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse.
What to expect:
To get the most out of the evening, it’s best to arrive before dark so you can get a feel for the area and distances. Kiwi are most active in the first couple of hours after dark, so please meet at the container site, 2867 Kaipara Coast Highway, by 5pm.
Booking is essential.
If you’d like to come along, please let us know so we can share the full details for the evening.
